Whatever sport or activity you take part in, whether competitively or just for fun, you are likely to experience a sports injury at some point. The impact of an injury is not just physical, it can also have a major effect on your sense of well-being, energy level and general mood. I aim to get people back to living and enjoying life again as quickly as possible. Some of the issues I've helped with in clinic include: knee and ankle ligament sprains; muscle strains; tendinosis/tendonitis (especially of the hamstrings, achilles and elbows); knee, shoulder and hip/groin injuries; medial tibial stress syndrome (shin splints); and ITB (ilio-tibial band) pain.
I work with the patient to reduce their symptoms and to identify the cause. This can sometimes be an actual incident, such as a poor tackle in a match. But often it results from poor technique, insufficient functional strength (the strength you need to carry out the movement you want correctly), or an overuse issue due to movement difficulties somewhere in the body. By looking at all of these factors and guiding the rehabilitation process, I aim to minimise the risk of a repeat injury.
Sports Massage
Sports massage can help both with prevention (lowering the risk of an injury occurring) and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
